It’s hard to believe that something so small and so tiny could be so incredibly healthy to have in your diet! Sometimes, you can’t even notice that you’re eating it because it’s so tiny. Chia Seeds are a super-food that pack an unbelievable amount of nutrients! You can find them at any grocery store and they go great in just about ANY food you choose to mix them with. I mix them with salads, yogurt, baked chicken, garnishes and you can mix them with just about anything. Heck, there has been a time where I just ate a spoonful of them because I liked the challenge of cracking them with my teeth! Kinda like tiny sunflower seeds. (Don’t judge!)
Here are some facts about Chia Seeds that you maybe didn’t know!
1) It has 5 times more calcium than MILK per serving! 2 tablespoons of chia seeds equals one serving.**
2) Chia Seeds have more fiber per ounce than ANY nut. Can you say regular?
3) Two times the potassium of a banana! Got cramps? Toss some chia seeds in your salad and keep those pesky muscle pains away!
4) It’s protein to carb ratio is better than any wheat product other than wheat germ. If you ever find wheat germ, let me know, I’ve never seen it before.
5) It gives blueberries a run for it’s money in the antioxidant race. Basically, chia seeds can help detox your body like nothing else on the planet!
